The Crosby Street Hotel

E-mail Print PDF

crosbyWhen talking about hotel decor, it can be dreary even in some of the best hotels--not so in this bright, modern U.K. import, which features 86 colorful, artfully appointed rooms. The husband and wife team behind the London-based Firmdale group has brought their unique look to Soho, filling the guest rooms and lobby with a chic mix of MoMA-worthy original paintings, rustic, textured furniture and one-of-a-kind statement pieces (like a giant human head sculpture by Jaume Plensa that’s made from metal letters). A charming brick-walled patio just off the hotel restaurant gives guests a secret garden to enjoy.

Late last fall, Firmdale opened its first-of-many-to-come North American hotel, the Crosby Street Hotel, in New York. Again, it is in the perfect location in the heart of SoHo between Prince, Spring and Lafayette Streets. It is a few cobblestones away from all the action, but on a quiet street. The brand new 11-storey, 86-room Crosby Street Hotel was built on a vacant parking lot over a two-year period.

This is a perfect hotel for a weekend stay that plans to engage in shopping, fine dining and some nightlife. Your seconds from all the action, and this is the type of hotel that inspires those "good-feelings" that if your staying with your significant other, you too should be seconds from action...

The most expensive condominium ever sold in downtown Manhattan.

E-mail Print PDF

skyloft-penthouse-thumb-450x279A recent debate between top minds at New York Pudding have been trying to figure out, what is the most expensive condominium ever sold in downtown Manhattan? Well here is the $30 million dollar answer...

The Skyloft Penthouse in New York City’s Tribeca neighborhood has become the most expensive condominium ever sold in downtown Manhattan.

Conceived by James Carpenter Design Associates, the modern duplex loft with distinctive glass constructions sits on top of a building dating from the 1920s and offers panoramic views of the city from the 14th floor.

The interior of the 145 Hudson Street loft is the work of Roger Marvel Architects and is meant to bring together the inside and outside spaces, for instance through the presence of glass doors leading onto terraces.

The apartment offers about 700 square meters of individual living space - four bedrooms and bathrooms, a 420 sq m terrace from which you can see the Hudson river on one side and the World Financial Center on the other.

So now that we have figured out the answer to that luxury riddle, the next question should be...who from New York Pudding is going to win the lottery so we can buy this penthouse as an office?
