How about a cozy meal at cozy prices? New York Pudding recently checked out this bistro and learned that "French Roast" is much more than just a bistro. French Roast (458 6th avenue) is a 24/7 candle lit bistro that feels like a large candle booth at a Paris flea market. The repertoire here is French, but there is a diverse enough menu with classic comfort foods such as caesar salad, hamburgers, and ice cream sundaes. We sat down at this delightful bistro recently to be greeted and seated by an overly friendly staff & a general manager who was quick to introduce himself and explain some of their premier dishes. We tried the Salade De Truite Fumee (Trout over field greens), the Salmon Avocado Tartare, the Herb Roasted Chicken, and the Mango Chutney Pork Chop. All the dishes were considerable in portion and divine in taste. For dessert we had the fruit cocktail and an ice cream brownie sundae which was the icing on a superlative meal.. Expect to spend between $20-$25 per person. This is an ideal spot for a cushy date or the 3am munchie attack when your night is winding down. Check out French Bistro below in our video:
